Audit

The Teaching Assistants (TA) Audit Tool is designed to support the effective deployment and management of TAs. It is a valuable tool for school self-assessment and improvement, and can be used as part of a process of school-to-school review and support.

Teaching assistants represent a significant proportion of the school workforce. Evidence tells us that, deployed well, TAs can make a big difference to the outcomes of children and young people. The Teaching Assistants (TA) Audit Tool enables school leaders to identify strengths and areas for improvement, and provides both historical and up-to-date reporting of the development of your TA workforce.

You can use the TA Audit Tool to:

  • Help to identify a clear, shared vision for the role and contribution of TAs across the school

  • Ensure TAs supplement and extend the work the school does to improve outcomes in clearly identifiable ways

  • Focus on the TAs role in adding value to what teachers do

  • Via best practice statements, help to identify appropriate level of TA support

  • Establish clear expectations for teacher and TA relationship

  • Support training and development for TAs to deliver intervention sessions

  • Identify a robust reporting and reviewing process
